Thanks to all of you ‘craft’ people who supported a
fantastic handicraft marquee in 2009. We were again up to
our maximum number of exhibits, indeed for the first time
turning people away who didn’t allow enough time for their
entries to reach me.
The deadline for 2010 is Friday the 4th June, a whole
week before show day, your co-operation in this is much
appreciated. For schools with large numbers of entries the
deadline is the 2nd June.
The entry fees and prizes for this section have remained
the same for many years. The fees for adults have increased
by 30% but the prize money has increased by 60%. Fees and
prizes for children remain unchanged.
We continue to have Honley Kennels again as our sponsor
of the prize tokens for all the children’s classes. Thanks
Andy Hampshaw. The kennels also provide a trophy for the
best in the adult’s photography Class 13. This year it’s
called ‘Pets’ so dig out your best snaps and have a go at
entering. Due to the growing number of photograph entries
there are now additional classes in both the children’s and
adults section.
It is with regret that for 2010 I have decided to remove
the Floral Art classes. (My favourite section) Over the last
few shows, entries have been much reduced. The cost of
flowers may have a part to play here. I’d like to give a
massive thank you to Joan Garlick who has encouraged
florists and been a perfect judge over many, many years. If
any of you feel strongly that floral art should make a come
back and can see a way to increasing entries please contact
me.
If anyone wants to volunteer to help this growing
section, please give me a call 01484 666176
